Rolf Steiner was the Commander of the 4th Commando Brigade of the Biafran Army known for his involvement in various conflicts, including the Nigerian Civil War (Biafran War) of the late 1960s. Before joining Biafra’s cause, Steiner had an extensive military career, including service in the French Foreign Legion, the Algerian War, and involvement with the Organisation Armée Secrète (OAS), a group opposed to Algerian independence from France.
In 1967, Steiner joined the Biafran army as part of the French-backed effort to support Biafra’s independence. He became a key figure in Biafra’s military, taking on leadership roles after most of his mercenary colleagues withdrew from the conflict.
Steiner is still alive, and as of now, he is 91 years old. He has stayed out of the spotlight in recent years after his eventful life as a soldier and mercenary.
